Project
Overview

Medyx helps Quebec’s medical specialists, including anesthesiologists, intensivists, internists, pulmonologists and general surgeons, simplify their RAMQ billing.

The main goal: reduce billing errors, streamline the process so physicians are paid the fair value of their procedures, and turn a heavy administrative task into a few minutes’ work between patient visits. On Medyx’s side, this technology is backed by a team of medical billing experts who answer physicians’ questions and support them day to day.

Our approach

A shared foundation: colours, typography, native components, and a system of variables and tokens so every Medyx surface speaks the same visual language and developers’ work is easier.

Rebuilding the core journeys: code search, directory, activity sheet, and integrating new features directly into the new system.

Observing real billing journeys on the new screens: RAMQ code search, favourites management and procedure entry, to identify the friction points, slowdowns and billing errors physicians experience. This was the starting point of our user research, giving us a high-level understanding of how physicians actually use the app.

Before

Medyx’s native app had grown fast, one feature at a time, and its components had drifted away from native iOS/Android conventions.

Flat-rate billing, multi-procedure entry, training, favourites: each was developed somewhat in a silo, without accounting for the different families of physicians and their needs. The result was an experience that lacked consistency from one screen to the next, and a codebase that was hard for the team to evolve.

Diapason was brought in to bring order to this growth: understand how physicians and the billing team actually use the app, lay the foundations of a shared Design System, then rebuild the native app around it.

After

Bringing order took real structuring work. We redefined consistent components (fields, lists, cards, actions, buttons) designed to be reused throughout the app, whatever the context.

We focused on the most-used journeys, RAMQ code search, completing billing and managing favourites, which clearly illustrate this transformation. At the end of the process, we put the new screens to the test through user testing, gathering feedback and observing users in their own context and medical practice.
